Odd I wonder if that means 38000 cycles is too much. ( I mean more than the atom can handle ). I'll test some custom values with Future Crew, if I get a chance and determine the optimal speed. The problem is it probably varies from program to program.

From what I’ve read the Voodoo3’s have poor alpha blending performance. There only seems to be one option in the driver settings for it, you could try seeing if Smoother vs Sharper has any impact. You would have better luck seeing if SHOGO or HG2 have any graphical tweaks related to smoke or alpha …

I’m confused is 386-33 and option in a Panic? Maybe try max cycles too? Unrelated, if anyone puts Win3.1 on theirs I’d be interested to hear how usable it is.

Good info, I loved that game. Maybe try using the Setspeed.bat from command line and increasing cpu cycles a bit? My 38000 default might have been a tad conservative.

I did experiment with allowing dosbox.conf to be edited by user, but then it’s also possible for them to completely hose the system. Dosbox might crash, system just boot loops then.

Did you test SDLquake on a 4:3 monitor? I had blackbars on mine so if it was 320x200 it was also being mashed down to a 16:9 aspect I think I tested both, there were always blackbars. There just aren’t any options with SDLQuake.

I never tried the hotswap, dosbox wont update the filesystem unless you force a fresh with CNTL-F4 (i never do that actaully) or use the rescan command. Try it?
