I'm curious what the performance impact of a 4x scaler would be. I remember seeing a performance drop when moving from 2x to 3x. I would guess the performance impact on what sort of display output options you choose, maybe it would be manageable on ddraw.

I can understand how this would be super low priority. I would suggest that if modifying DosBox to maintain the correct time is difficult then maybe add a command to refresh the time to match system time? Sort of like how rescan refreshes the directory structure.

Currently I'm doing Quake benchmarks at cycles=max, then I test with fixed cycles and try to approach that average fps number.
