Re: List of SC-55 clones/compatibles?

Great job. Sounds like SC-55 compatibility mode to me, but I'll listen more closely later (a thunderstorm overhead right now, lol). Yeah, I should have mentioned that it's like a SC-33 because it lacks the MT-32 variation tones. It has the exact same basic set of 226 instruments. The additional …

Re: List of SC-55 clones/compatibles?

From what I can tell, the MT-300 is a SC-33 (same 226 tones) with an extra 143 tones (128 extra GM tones with 5 extra variations that are hard to identify, 9 drums and 1 that I can't figure out). Or at least, it's using that "GM2" style patch list, the SC-55 mk II patches minus the MT-32 tones. No …

Re: List of SC-55 clones/compatibles?

Sorry for necro bumping this but I actually just got an MT-300 to add to the stack this weekend. It is a very curious MT device as I can't quite place what it uses for samples? It came out in 98 if the copyright on the manual is to be believed. It is definitely upgraded from the MT-200 I also have, …

Re: MIDI Thru box

Well a midi switch won't help you much with what you describe... if games send some data to modules or setup in a certain way and you switch modules then the new module will miss that data and you will get wrong playback. What you need IMHO is a sound mixer where you can select which module to hear …

Re: MIDI Thru box

I would buy one, but I want one that allows me to select with output is actually receiving the data. I also prefer to not have any cabling on the front of the unit. In my case I have 3 separate modules I like to switch between when playing games. But currently I'm using the midi thru on two of them …

Re: Roland SC-88 no audio output?

I've mentioned this in other places here, but even my 2003 Edirol SD-20 had evidence of SMD cap leakage. I only found this when trying to figure out why I wasn't getting any audio from the analog outputs off the module. When I saw the dull grey and crumbly look of the solder at the base of the caps, …

Re: Synthesizers that came with video game music

I suspect the video that was posted with the SD-20 for Duke3D didn't have the SD-20 set to GS mode. I noticed that the test music option in the setup, but seem to generate a GS reset because the SD-20 will show what mode it is using on the front of it. When it gets the correct reset message, it will …

Re: MOD Players working on a 286 ?

One of the first MOD players I know I used on my 286-16 was the WOW player as it supported my SB Pro back in the day that I had? I'm sure there were a few others I messed with but I do remember using that one quite a bit although I recall it wasn't a very accurate player.
