First 486 was my Packard Bell 486SX-25 I purchased back in spring of 1994. Upgraded the CPU to a 486DX-66 about 6months later as I recall. My previous PC to this 486 was my semi beefy 286-16 AMD based system my folks and I put money together for back in 1988 -89.

I've played around a bit with this using the old Roland utility to patch the Mt-32 to GM compatible mode. It does work and in some cases can sound pretty cool, but I've yet to hear it sound overall 'better' than an actual GS module does.

I also use HxD to compare individual files all the time. When it finds a difference it will display them side by side so you can visually see them in Hex format. I actually use it to make configuration changes internally within files for one of the POS systems we support at my work.
