Controlling the filtering of 2D GUI elements

We can force anisotropic filtering using dgVoodoo and it affects both 3D rendering and the 2D GUI and HUD elements. Is it possible to apply anisotropic filtering only on 3D, while using no filtering (or nearest) on 2D HUD and GUI elements ? With anisotropic filtering those often look blurry and …

Re: High resolution textures for Dungeon Siege (2002)

in Milliways
Thanks for the positive comments. Do you know how much video ram the new textures require? I can give it a try on my retro machine regardless, just curious. I don't know. I'm currently using my integrated Intel graphics because my GPU broke again few days ago (if you check out my blog, it was the …

High resolution textures for Dungeon Siege (2002)

in Milliways
I hope I am not breaking any rules here, but I wanted to share this project for an old game. For more than 4 months I have been updating textures for Dungeon Siege using ESRGAN. I have released a texture pack that contains 3929 textures and is 5.97 GB large. All terrain textures have been updated, …

Re: ATI Radeon tech demos

Thanks. It turns out I can run the Dolphin demo by simply disabling npatches in the config file, but it beats the whole purpose. I have an old ATI R9550 card and with old enough drivers it might support npatches in software/CPU mode. I will try to run it using that one day.

ATI Radeon tech demos

I have been playing with the ATI Radeon tech demos. Most of them work fine and there was no need for dgVodoo, but I have problem with two of them(actually 3, but third one is DirectX 10.1) and even dgVoodoo doesn't help. I am using Windows 7 and have a R9 270X graphics card. I know dege also tested …

Re: Witcher 1 microstuttering

in Windows
I remember when I bought my new computer in 2014 Witcher 1 was one of the first games I played and I had issues with stuttering. I had to play it without vsync and limit framerate with RTSS to 60 FPS. It was not perfect, but better than with vsync on (for reference: Win 7, R9 270x, i5 4690, 8GB RAM …

Re: dgVoodoo 2 page on PCGamingWiki

I added lots of content for Configuring DirectX in dgVoodoo2 to the page, if you want to check it out. https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/DgVoodoo_2 Some options could be more extrapolated by Dege, since there are some settings that could have more information that is relevant. Yes, I've been …

Re: Gunlok (2000) crashes on startup

Thanks for the tutorial. I tried using that program once, but I didn't know how to use it. As for the compatibility list, when I use dgVoodoo to fix or enhance a game I write it on PCGamingWiki. For example Starship Troopers Terran Ascendancy or Nocturne: https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Starship_ …

Re: Controlling CD music volume in old games

in Windows
It seems that simply using Windows XP compatibility was not a complete fix. The CD music does not increase/decrease the volume of other sounds, it now plays at maximum, in game volume controls have no effect. Also sometimes CD music doesn't play or gets stuck, though I only played one level with …

Re: Controlling CD music volume in old games

in Windows
Do you have analog audio cable going from the optical drive to the sound card? Third one might be attempting to change the volume of optical drive's analog audio output, which doesn't work if it doesn't exist. No. Now that you mention it I remember on my old computer from 1999 (which I …

Gunlok (2000) crashes on startup

The game runs without dgVoodoo, but with dgVoodoo it crashes on startup. I get a black screen that flickers and I can only see the dgvoodoo logo being displayed before it crashes. I thought maybe the intro videos may be the problem, since dgVoodoo has issues with those, so I removed them, but it …

Re: Controlling CD music volume in old games

in Windows
Right-click on the shortcut you use to run the game->Properties->Compatibility tab->check Run this program in Compatibility mode for and select Windows XP (Service Pack 3). Hope it works. Can't really tell since I don't have any game exhibiting the behavior you describe. Oh, I though it was …

Re: Controlling CD music volume in old games

in Windows
I think the answer to your question is in the following post: https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=36870&p=643220&hilit=HardwareAudioMixer#p643220 Not all games control CD audio volume the same way your examples do. But I guess it's more universal. The other way requires analog audio cable . …

Controlling CD music volume in old games

in Windows
It seems to me that, at least in Windows 7, when you play a game that uses Red Book CD music, when you try to set the CD music volume in the game settings it actually changes the volume of all sounds in game. I thought it was just a problem with one game, but I had this problem in at least 3 games …

dgVoodoo 2 page on PCGamingWiki

I made a dedicated dgVoodoo 2 page on PCGamingWiki. There is not much info there yet, so if you have something useful to write like Glide instructions(I never used it for Glide, so I have no experience with it) or some advanced features, options and tricks available in the config file feel free to …
