Re: Dosbox without scaling?

The 70hz part seems to be working fine, or if it is forced into a 60hz refresh rate, I can't tell. If I use the opengl output with FRAPS it does go up to 70hz frame rate. With scaler set to none I get a smaller window centered on the screen. The aspect ratio is also wrong. What is interesting is …

Re: Best WinXP Video Card

duga3 I think you found the best setup for late era XP graphics cards. I use a VGA monitor so I can't comment on the color accuracy because that was always working with VGA. I can set a custom resolution in the driver panel. I was able to inf mod my 980ti graphics card, and the 1.9.6.6 Nvidia …

Re: Windows 98SE with 2GB+ physical RAM

I did it a while ago, and I don't remember all the steps, but you I believe you get through the first step of the install process, then boot, drop to DOS, patch, and then continue the install. The Rudolph patch has the notes for each step you need to take. You can get past most memory checks on the …

Dosbox without scaling?

This is a pretty simple concept but I can't find any information on it. I have a VGA CRT monitor, I have bunch of graphics cards, I want to use Dosbox to help me emulate an ideal DOS environment but I do not want to scale the output at all. I want to know if I can let games run at their native …

Re: Best WinXP Video Card

It would be great if more people could try the 355.98 driver and share their own experiences. I have only scratched the surface with it now but it really seems like a good contender for 9xx/Maxwell series of GPUs. Especially if you have digital-signal monitors over 60Hz. If you for example have …

Re: All these interposers and hardware hacking of old chips. What about using new chips in old motherboards?

It would be pretty cool to have an FPGA drop in CPU for socket 7 or slot 1 that could be configured on the fly for different speed profiles. For CPUs beyond slow 486sx FPGA is a no no, at least in "budget" models who power things like the MiSTER. An extra problem with Budget models, is that them …

Re: Ruined memory of an old game by playing it!

in DOS
sometimes it's not the game as such but the nostalgia that disappears upon replays irksome controls that once were acceptable, the inability to jump in some FPS games, being unable to skip animations and so on moreover there was a kind of ignorance one had about games when younger, beliefs that …

Re: All these interposers and hardware hacking of old chips. What about using new chips in old motherboards?

It would be pretty cool to have an FPGA drop in CPU for socket 7 or slot 1 that could be configured on the fly for different speed profiles. I am not sure how practical that would be given the expense of an FPGA and the limitations of HDL (I think the FPGAs you see in projects like the mister have a …

Re: Best WinXP Video Card

It maybe possible to use nvidia inspector to force additional driver settings or down sampling. My GTS 250 has super sampling options in the driver but my GTX 960 doesn't. I am not sure which driver version removed the option from the control panel.
