For me, the latest version of Microsoft Mouse does the job despite the large memory usage and not supporting the third mouse button. Handles nicely the mouse settings and doesn't have the compatibility issues that CuteMouse has while maintaining good performance.

More DOS games that take advantage of the hardware mixer the GUS has: The Horde Greedy B.A.D (pretty obscure one btw) Fit Up Boovie (music playback is quite buggy though)

The other option would be installing a different driver for the Voodoo3, preferably sticking to slightly older and non-beta official ones that requires DirectX 7 at minimum.

Just like the others mentioned, I put the CD drive into the secondary IDE channel as master in my retro computer. The ones found on sound cards should only be used if the motherboard lacks IDE ports onboard.

Video card drivers requires a minimum version of DirectX installed for DirectDraw and D3D software to work. In the case of the Voodoo3 1.09-beta10, DirectX 8.1 must be installed.

Jazz Jackrabbit runs file without EMM386.EXE by the way. But I do use it with the XMGR.SYS memory manager (with the /R option) and with UMBPCI.SYS to load everything high. I don't remember if HIMEM.SYS caused trouble because XHDD.SYS uses XMS memory for its cache and it cooperates best with XMGR. …

Have you tried running VESAFIX in conjunction with the modded drivers from Rob Muller? BTW, the Voodoo3 doesn't support 15bpp video modes that some DOS games use. Not sure about Screamer 2 in software rendering though.

133 MHz FSB on motherboards based on Intel 440BX/ZX chipset has some caveats: Needs higher quality PC133 SDRAM sticks, cheaper ones aren't up to the task. The AGP slot runs at 89 MHz, meaning that fewer video cards (mostly nVidia) can handle that speed. Northbridge may run hotter.
