Need BIOS for Gigabyte GA-486vs motherboard.

I am trying to resolve problems with my Gigabyte GA-486vs motherboard. So I think I will start with a fresh bios. As I do NOT know the history of this motherboard and the bios is acting strange. Does anyone know where I can get this bios ?

I did. I am going to try adding an external battery. I checked the CMOS battery with a Multimeter and it tested okay at 3.5 volts. Which should be enough. But it’s old and there maybe a problem.

So I replaced the cache chips and now it boots but at posts the screen reads that NO cache is installed. I used 9 new chips from “alliance” -15ns , 8 chips for the cache and 1 for the tag. All the same type of chips. Is that okay? Or do I need a special tag chip ? Also, I booted of a DOS boot disk …

I am a sucker for Aluminum cases. I am going to use this for a Terratec Audio studio build. Going to add a Terratec EWS-88MT and DMX 6 Fire 24/96. Going to look Awesome.

Yeah, I assumed it was the cache. So I am going to start by replacing the cache with a new set.

Personally, I don’t know enough to have a preference between Motorola and Intel. They both work fine for me. Obviously it had more to do with the customer loyalty base. At the time it was Win/tel vs. Apple/Motorola. And SGI , Sun and HP used RISC CPU’s with UNIX operating systems. I like the …
