I finally got my Lucky star LS-486 motherboard working. I currently have it with an Intel 486dx4-100 CPU. But it also supports the AMD 5x86-133-P75 CPU. What do you think ? Which would be best for playing DOS games and which will down clock better to 25mhz or 33mhz ? The LS-486 has 16mb , 60ns fast …

You can go even lower than 300 on a K6-III+. Just drop the bus speed down to 66Mhz. With a 2.5x multiplier, that would give you a speed of 165Mhz. Edit... actually, you can only go down to 3x... so 198Mhz. Do you physically have to change the jumpers or can you just do it with software. By …

I should have been more clear on “patches” I was thinking operating system patches but BIOS updates are just as important. I just went with the AMD K6-3+ and SS7 motherboard because it’s versatility. Yeah, But the Sound Blaster installation CD process did not provide for an option to select where to find the drivers. It only asked to switch CDROM disks to Win98 install. The install process would only load files from the CDROMS and not the Hard-drive.

Yeah, I have some silver drives but they are old and no longer work. And I do not want to paint these drives because I am a terrible painter. Actually the silver cdrom is beginning to fail too so I am going to replace it too with a beige cdrom.
