More importantly, check power supply ripple at load. A multimeter may show a good voltage (avg measurement) but if you have high AC ripple feeding it, you'll get failed boots, crashes, errors, etc. It is best checked with an oscilloscope, but a Fluke with TrueRMS can provide a halfway decent reading …

No, the unit will only draw as much as needed. I missed that you said it has a 2 amp fuse, so that's largest power supply you'll need to power it. 12VDC/2A, but of course a larger 12VDC power supply will work fine.. or a 12VDC lead-acid battery as I already stated.

Just hook up a 12V car/jetski/quad/lawnmower battery to it. 12 volt negative grounded means it is expecting a battery terminal ground, not an earth or chassis ground. If you use a 12VDC power supply, 5 amps would likely be just fine, maybe even overkill.. it won't draw much power at all with no …

High details, full screen. What are the specs of your 28 plus.. something like a DX4-100? Or maybe you're using a PCI video card? I'm using a 486DX2-66 with VLB -- not many benchmarks I see achieve much more than 32fps.
