The barrel batteries can randomly explode too, without any signs of leaking. I have a ton of those batteries in VME cards at work, and we have a 5 year PM to replace the batteries, and a 18mo PM to inspect them. We've had a few blow up over the years and cause damage to boards.

If you want to use something like Voodoo II SLI, you can use a dual PCI riser. I have a build with it, using a VIA EPIA motherboard. The display is probably programmable via button presses. I heard some of them required a jumper to be placed, then you can use the turbo button to set the high & low numbers. (similar to an extremely basic alarm clock) Try holding down the RESET button to see if it goes into programming mode.

The floppies can still be downloaded. I found them in several places around the web with a Google search. They're an Exe file that needs to be ran on Windows 9x or DOS which generates the floppy disk. I think I searched for "Compaq Presario 9232 Drivers" to find them.
