From what I understand, the XBOX software is stamped to the serial code of the hard drive it is installed on, thus you can't just buy a hard drive off the shelf and drop it in like you can with a playstation 3.

All depending on how flexible the Xbox 360 is with taking random hard drives of course. From what I know, changing the hard drive in an xbox 360 is a pain. That said, I would say that a good quality SSD is the best option, least likely to fail.

Hmmm, you can get something very close to OPL3 with the ESS solo-1. Looking at your previous thread, you were trying to access the FM chip within windows. For that, the ESS solo-1 does work, but you need to make sure you load the VXD drivers (not the newer WDM drivers)

Will these work on Slot 1 motherboards? My 6BXC has a single floppy port on the board that currently runs the 3.5" 1.4mb drive. Yeah, it is mostly the older games that suffered this. If you get an ESS ISA card, be sure to turn OFF the onboard amplifier. They tend make the card sound like crap.

I received my first AWE64 value yesterday and was testing it out in a Pentium 200 with windows 3.1. Seems to work nicely. Decided I will move it to my P-II retro machine, running windows 98 and the voodoo 3 card. The pentium 200 is for older games, might get a Dreamblaster for it's ess audiodrive.

Depending on what programs you are planning on running, I have found the Geforce 4 mx cards to be cheap and easy to get. Maybe not exactly the same era, but very much like the old geforce and geforce 2 cards. As an alternative to voodoo cards.

It is normal for S3 Trio3D rendering to be rather broken. S3 simply took their broken Virge core and spun another couple of series of cards to sell cheap for OEM deals.

I found that Unofficial SP3 works fine after you install IE6.0 on Win 98SE if you don't install IE6.0, explorer will no longer work.
