Re: Toshiba T4900CT

I see. I think it's probably the connector on the old power supply board that needs to be re-soldered or replaced. Let's wait for the new power supply board to arrive and see what happens. After replacing the power supply board with a new one, i have reassembled the laptop and it no longer has that …

Re: Toshiba T4900CT

Can you give me more details about the power issue? Does the computer turns off after a while? Or does it reboot? Neither. Basically, the laptop acts as though the cord is not plugged in and i have to jiggle and move it around. Sometimes even shifting the laptop from different angles just for the …

Re: Toshiba T4900CT

Just to make sure I'm getting it. After the boot screen, the computer shows a new screen with the "While initializing device IOS: ERROR: An I/O subsystem driver failed to load. Either a file in the .\iosubsys subdirectory is corrupt, or the system is low on memory." message? --- About the damage on …

Re: Toshiba T4900CT

You could also try to fix the floppy drive and the cable connecting the floppy drive, then try to boot DOS from a diskette and see if that works. If it boots DOS from a diskette, than I don't think that you have a power issue. I'm in the process of dealing with the floppy drive. That itself is new, …

Re: Toshiba T4900CT

Hi. Have you tested the hard drive on another PC? Or have you replaced the hard drive with something you have absolutely sure it's working? The problem could be a faulty hard drive. Yup. I have checked the hard drive and it works just fine. It's not the hard drive. It's definitely an issue with the …

Re: Toshiba T4900CT

I have reassembled the laptop and replaced the CMOS battery, standby battery, and floppy disk drive. I found a 26-pin zif cable that hopefully will work in replacing the one ripped during disassembly. I have also added a memory card to max out the laptop's ram to 40MBs. The power cord works just …

Re: Toshiba T4900CT

Hi. That's a nice lapt-- I suspect it was the result of an external source. But it still shows up just fine. As for the batteries, Yeah. I noticed some leakage from one of the batteries so after some digging, I found a replacement. At the moment, everything is in pieces. Waiting for several more …

Re: Toshiba T4900CT

I have found an official power adapter that is for this model of laptop and based on this experience, i have determined that the AC adapter is fine. I suspect that the power issues is a result of the dead CMOS battery. https://i.imgur.com/eRpYt5J.jpg Win98 will not run without the 32MB memory card …

Re: Toshiba T4900CT

I have ordered a CC style memory card for the laptop but it's located in Israel so it's going to take a few weeks to get here. The toshiba power brick should be here sometime next week. Hoping that the issue will be with the adjustable power cord and not the laptop power port itself.

Re: Toshiba T4900CT

I keep having trouble with this power adapter. Either it's really wonky or the power connector on the board may have gone bad. Only way to determine that would be to get a second power adapter of a different variety and test it that way. If it truly is the connector, i may have to completely …
