So, what FPS do you get at 800x600? Do you also have a low score with 3DMark2000? The Quake 3 numbers seemed fine I think (assuming they were 32-bit color).

And what was the monitors refresh rate? For Windows 9x you will typically need to sync your desktop resolution, color depth and refresh rate with the games settings to make sure it applies.

I still think it might be the vsync issue. Easy enough to test, run 3DMark99 at 640x480 and 60hz. The FPS counter in the first game test should be at 60 most of the time.

So it seems it working correctly. My guess is that Vsync is still on. Setting to "Default off" or similar settings wont work, it needs to be forced. Check for a VIA CPU to AGP controller in device manager to see if the driver was installed. You also might want to use the recommended 4.43 driver instead. Try to benchmark Quake III, both with one and two chips active.

Both of those 3-pin connectors should be for fans. Looks like HP just connected one of them to the PSU fan but used a slighty different connector. You will only need the 20-pin to power the board.

One of those thin fin heatsinks need a decent amount of airflow to work, creating unwanted noise. I would use something like the Titan TTC-D5T with a slow moving fan (maybe 1500 RPM) to cut down on noise. The fins are far enough apart that the air will still get down to the bottom. It doesn't …

As stated above the Voodoo 1 does not support resolutions lower that 512x384. kjliew is running an emulator with a wrapper, not running true hardware like you are doing.

This game uses Direct3D only. You can still play it with a Voodoo card if you have DirectX 6 drivers.
