Re: Native PS/2 mouse implementation for 386/486 boards using the keyboard controller

I mentioned this in a previous post: I soldered a brand new controller (new via kbc, new pcb, new components) but it did not help. But it seems the kbc wasn't the issue at all , since I have edited my last post some times this is what I found so far: - the tsr does not work if you don't solder a ps …

Re: Native PS/2 mouse implementation for 386/486 boards using the keyboard controller

Built my interposer and I'm getting a keyboard lock error on boot and no ability to use the keyboard. Pin 34 has continuity to the keyboard lock pin on the motherboard. Tried driving it low and high to no effect. I have a "Regional HT6542" and there are no datasheets on it (I don't think this KBC is …

Re: Snow on ISA vga card

I stumbled on this when searching for my RAMDAC to find alternatives. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9gROqRlejwA He's got the same RAMDAC I have, the ADV476KN66. He replaces it with a IMSG176P-80S and eliminates most/all of the snow on his ET4000. Just ordered one on eBay. Arrived today. Dropped it …

To answer my own question, SBDIAG reports DSP 2.02. So this card is technically a SB 2.0? Haven't tested any 44khz sample rates yet. 8-bit 44khz wav …

Re: Snow on ISA vga card

Yep, that's definitely what I was seeing in Wolf3D. Appreciate the help and detailed explanation. Does the SRAM reside in the processing unit itself? All of the other chips look like shift registers and other logic.

Snow on ISA vga card

I have an Ahead V5000 (VGA-102-1M) ISA VGA card with 1mb of vram in my 386sx-40. Output looks great, and seems to be pretty compatible with DOS games (no Keen scrolling issue). However, in Wolfenstein 3D, I'm getting what I can only describe as "snow" during fade-in/fade-out effects? Once the …

Re: My DIY sound card replicas

I recently purchased the GUS and SB1.5 ISA clones with the metal brackets. These cards are awesome! GUS PnP has worked flawlessly (after reprogramming the ISA-PNP EEPROM with GUS PnP XSS InterWave EEPROM Toolz 1.3 ) and is a very low noise card. I used the pre-installed Orpheus II Gus PNP DOS driver …

Re: YMF71x command-line mixer?

Assuming you are asking about pure DOS environment? Any soundblaster pro compatible mixer will work. I use SBPVOL (search for "SBPVOL DOS") to make mixer changes. It is a TSR, that when loaded allows you to use keyboard shortcuts, but you can run it in "batch mode" where you specify the volumes you …
