go back to your old driver ? you might be able to bypass the broken functionality of the latest driver by playing with the output setting in dosbox

supaplex has an ega mode as well. I haven't tried this patch with it yet, but without it, it suffers from a weird scrolling in the status bar. Might be another testcase. (spfix63 ega)

they might be using some detection routine that doesn't work well with faster computers. try disabling the internal cache to slow your pc down

Some general remarks as I don't know the game. maybe they want older versions ? Newer versions of DirectX don't tend to solve problems with old games. And games can be very sensitive to which version of Quiktime is installed..

could you see what the games do you use the sbpro1 setting in dosbox ? as the size=1 and such was added because that is how the sbpro1 handled it. (might be sbpro2)

i don't know. if you disk is FAT formatted then old dos undelete tools would probably work. NTFS I don't know as I never tried to undelete there.

no it doesn't. you should try if your os has an undelete function (dosbox uses your os delete commands.)

well I got an idea to speed it up a lot, but not sure when i will code it. For the lpt stuff. do you want to print to your real printer connected to your lpt1 (passthrough) or do you want to print to an emulated printer ?

well it's not really a problem in my opinion. It's just it is intended to that. You just have bad luck that you have 9000 files in one directory. Nobody has that. So in general dosbox runs faster because of the caching (and it is needed for the 8.3 translation), you are unlucky in the catagory that …
