Re: Should DOSBox ship with a frontend?

I say "if it's not broken don't fix it". I *always* use DOSBox through frontends like D-FEnd and DGBL, but you can't telli fthey will coninue to be in development as new versions of DOSBox appear. Packaging the emulator with one of the frontends could mean the end of the rest, and then nobody is …

Re: MSD 6.22 on dosbox

I was told once on this board that for some reason the MS-DOS install doesn't work properly under DOSBox. Try instead to install from QEMU and then use the resulting diskfile with DOSBox.

Re: Unable to install from CD

Maybe for some reason your CD-ROM is not properly detected. Why don't you try to copy the files from the CD to a folder and then mount it as a CD-ROM? DOSBox allows it, and after the install is complete, if you think the CD files are to big to keep them there you can look for a crack.

Re: No new D-fend version in sight?

avatar_58, it's not the first time I hear that current D-Fend can be tweaked to accept some of the new DOSBox features, something I assume it's done by adding / changing lines in dfend.ini . Can you tell me the *exact* changes I need to do?

No new D-fend version in sight?

I've been cheking D-fend's website but there are not any recent updates. Does anybody know if it is still on development? I've been seing people are creating other frontends, but so far D-fend is still a personal favourite.

Re: Problems using SHARE.EXE

Ugh... Never used BOCHS and don't plan to... I wouldn't know where to start, unless I found a step-by-step guide on how to install dos 6.x under that program, and I still have to see one. I think I'll let it as it is for now, I can always use Wordperfect or AmiPro or some other stuff that doesn't …

Problems using SHARE.EXE

Hello all. I've been following the guide to install Windows 3.11 under DOSBox, and everything -save sound, I didn't go that far- seems to work fine. Problem? I want MORE. I've been searching here and there and got several of my old applications ready to work, such as Word 6.0 or Excel 5. The problem …

Re: Dosbox 0.65 is AMAZING

Yeah, I know there's no CD version. It's just that in order to make it easier to install it under virtual machines (I use VMWare Workstation) I copied the whole installation package into a ISO file. I'll check that guide, thanks. BTW, to the dude who said he can run Quake smoothly, what are youe …

Re: Dosbox 0.65 is AMAZING

A couple of questions: Does Windows 3.11 work under this version? I lost contact with the CVS builds several months ago. If so, what is the easiest way to install it from an ISO image? I'm using D-Fend.

Re: Strike Commander installation failure

With that nick of yours you must be a die-hard Forsyth fan, aren't you, CAT Shannon? Anyway, you can talk about emulation in Virtual PC because many other emulators (like the Amiga emu WinUAE) require system files (or even the entire OS) to run certain things. I wouldn't loose the time with the CD …

Re: Strike Commander installation failure

That Underdogs version must be the most faithful available, but sure it is a paain in the a*s to install. I was having the same problems as you mention, and finally installed the whole thing with Virtual PC as well. Now my problem is with DOSBox, because although the install.exe works the sc.exe …
