I've been going through multiple dozen T4x0 and T4x0p machines that are classified as "ultrabooks". They are the best workhorses, if you need portability. Ozzuneoj, you might still have some problems with win98's himem.sys, when you go to 2GB+ ram.

dionb, i haven't researched it yet, but maybe it's a perfect way to create a 192MB ramdisk on that part of ram that isn't cached? ... and i just tried it out, and it works well! I'm using XMSDSK to allocate TOP 192MB of XMS memory for ramdrive therefore leaving bottom 64MB for Windows. And it works …

Talking about women in general, my mother, who is approaching age 70, is playing Age of Empires 2 HD. Though she uses cheats and her goals are to build "nice environment for her people". But she does add enemies and keep them in check with walls, towers and soldiers. 😜

Okay, played around a little. I moved away from 4DOS to classic command.com, removed the DOSMAX, yet problems persisted - machine starts to behave a bit weird (as described above) and soon locks up. Any other ideas, i could try out?

I'm not going to use any windows on my 386, therefore 4dos should be okay and stable? Do you have any alternative for DOSMAX?

Does your computer work correctly with HDD or with other CF cards? Maybe it's not storage issue, but a ram/cache issue?
