I honestly never understood the point of the 387sx The 386/387dx both could run in 16 bit mode The 386Sx had 256 bytes of onchip cache but besides packaging the 387sx had no significant improvements over the dx core. Also gotta wonder why late 286 machines didn’t just come with a 387sxor dx socket …

Speed and lag was period correct the engine had no real speed regulation. Unless you play a level I can’t say if it’s too fast but it looks on the fast side to me. 286-16 is about “right” unless you have twitch reflexes

Did any IBM PC compatibles use the v33? I always thought it sort of pointless as it wasn’t pin compatible or bus compatible and was like a 286 without protected mode Wonder if the extra memory would work with himem and if a20 and the high irqs/ dam worked?
