Re: TANDY Dos-Gaming-Thread (1000RL/HD)

Can the DOS in the Tandy-ROM be hacked to load an additional driver to make use of external storage-solutions zip/jazz or LPT2SCSI devices? Is this possible? I will test some VGA cards in my T1000RL/HD to "emulate" cloudschatz's solution. Would be nice to get the icon collection :) Thx! Not that I …

Re: Meanwhile on Mars...

Reminds me of French airports running 3.11 There are mil and space spec x86 chips, most common being good ol 386dx chips which were found on space telescopes. Harris 286-25 came in a mil / aerospace spec as well

Re: Matrox Parhelia Pci-X on windows 9x/Me

What was the last pci matrox to have 9x and 586 support? Probably 400 series I think not. Parhelia was targeted more for professionals, which were using NT for a while at that time (2002). There was no point in wasting resources for supporting dying home user OS. ME was only a couple years old. …

Re: Matrox Parhelia Pci-X on windows 9x/Me

Re: Yet another 286 build.

Merely the ancient intel 80287 is a real 287 class FPU. The others have a more modern 387 core with an 287 pinout. Isn't the NMOS 287 more like an 8087 class FPU with a 286 cpu interface? And is an officially IEEE compliant instruction set. 8087 could actually outperform the 287 due to having its …

Re: Yet another 286 build.

Just for giggles try the newer video cards without the EIDE controller installed Never heard of any 286 board that supports 4MB SIMMs FWIW I had a small slim factor desktop 286-25 pass through my fingers that accepted 72 pin simms, IDE, serial, ps2, vga onboard with riser 92/93 date codes It was …
