What's wrong with having 2 DOSBox configs? I've always found this to be a PITA myself. There are enough different possible combinations of settings for different games that it makes more sense to have one for each than it does to group games into similar configs and launch from the command line. …

The NE2000 emulation uses PCAP in promiscuous mode, which does not work with WIFI adapters. As Jorpho suggested, you could run DOSBox in a virtual machine and use that virtual machines virtual network to bridge to your wifi. But that probably means it only works for DOS applications needing TCP/IP. …

dosbox-x has support for savestates, and while it has been enhanced recently, it is not perfect. Better test if it works with your game of choice before relying on it.

The lower 1024 ports are restricted on Unix (and hence Linux) to root. A regular user cannot use them. For the nullmodem server, specify something like: Copy code to clipboard 1 serial1 nullmodem port:5000 For the client, you then specify: Copy code to clipboard 1 serial1 nullmodem server:

As jmarsh mentioned, DOSBox does not support CD-ROMs once you boot an OS in DOSBox. This is due to missing IDE emulation. If you need this function, have a look at DOSBox-X instead.
