Re: Quadro NVS 400 PCI

you could be the 1st. Let us know if it likes force loading a old driver for a geforce instead of a quadro with 2 gpus glued to the same pcb. As far as I'm aware it doesn't equate to SLI they control separate monitors for quad monitor support. I'm skeptical. Yeah, I know. Again I'm planning to use …

Quadro NVS 400 PCI

Anyone have any experience with this thing in Windows 98se? I've been looking for inexpensive PCI graphics cards to try in a MediaGX build I'm working on and this looks like it might be an interesting stand in for a PCI based NV17 card (all the ones I've found so far are pricy as all hell: NVS 100s …

Re: Aftermarket GPU Cooler Compatibility Question

For example Zalman VF900-Cu, Ice Hammer IH-650B or Thermaltake Fanless 330. But there's more, much more. Those all look damn good, but after buying a X850 PE that was DOA because the board was taco'd from a aftermarket heatsink without a backplate (just 2 springloaded thumbscrews), I'll probably go …

Aftermarket GPU Cooler Compatibility Question

So, I have a the Quadro FX version of the FX-5900 Ultra and in the interests of longevity I'd like to add an aftermarket cooler to it. I've been looking for the NV-Silencer 4 Version 2 without any luck. However, Aerocooler has the "AVC-NV4 NV Silencer 4" for sale on Amazon. Does anyone know if this …

FX5900 Ultra/Quadro FX 3000 Thermal Pad thickness

I recently acquired a Quadro FX 3000 card for a DX7-8 based Windows ME build. As of now it seems to be working well (haven't installed the driver I'm waiting for my P4 651 to show up), so refurbishment is the next step. What thickness thermal pad do these heatsinks accept under the ram heatsinks or …

Re: HIS X1950 Pro issues

Try installing driver from device manager (manually choosing .inf file). The driver itself SEEMS to install fine, but I get an error when I try to run 3dmark saying Direct3d isn't installed. Dxdiag says everything is fine, though, so I thought there might be something going on with the install …

Re: HIS X1950 Pro issues

Well, an update: the seller of the FireGl got around to testing it and apparently its functional (It'would have been nice if he had tested it before hand it would have saved both of us alot of trouble). This suggests I have a broken/dying Mobo, pending testing the Firegl X1 I have on order in it. …

Re: HIS X1950 Pro issues

You probably shouldn't believe what the onboard measurements say though. It's unlikely to be accurate. Maybe there is some value in watching what happens to the voltage when the CPU goes from idle to load, but I'm not sure about that either. Yeah, but it tracks pretty closely to what is reported in …

Re: HIS X1950 Pro issues

Honestly, I took a look in some older threads and saw that there were some Socket A boards that had a EATX 12 volt line that actually didn't take as much juice from that port as as a Intel board would. It seemed like it was Via based boards that were under that suspicion primarily, but there's so …

Re: HIS X1950 Pro issues

Update. I ordered a FireGL x3. If it doesn't work either, I'm going to be strongly suspicious that this is actually a PSU issue. I have a hard time believing I could wind up with 3 bricked cards in a row! Also, I just finished recapping my i845 board, so i'll soon have another board to compare with …

Re: HIS X1950 Pro issues

Sounds about right for a X1950 Pro. Try setting FSB to 133Mhz in bios. If the computer takes longer or completely stops locking up at least you will have ruled out AGP incompatibilities. Ok, just tried it. It still locks up, but it acts differently. While it was loading test 3 in 3dmark 01SE I got …
