Errius wrote on 2020-12-04, 09:29: I have both an empty box + instructions looking for a game, and a game + instructions looking for a box. Games are a bit diferent. But when it comes to hardware, I'd never pay extra for having something boxed.

I confess that I don't really care about boxes. I mean boxed items. If I happen to buy something boxed for my collection, I take it out of the box and keep it with other things without a box. And I don't really understand why this piece of cardboard costs 600 bucks Filename Audioport.jpg File size …

Re: 8-Bit Guy video's are becoming a chore!

I'd think Adrians Digital Basement is probably my favorite channel at the moment (well hello hello). I think his format is really good and I like his mail call videos where he actually takes the time to go through the items. Not a big fan of candy reviews though... I have also enjoyed this channel, …

I would actually love to make a German spinoff of my English YT channel, however I don't have the time and resources at the moment. But you might want to follow me, for when I actually get the time to make this a reality. :) That would be great! Will check out your videos now. And hopefully the …

I find Adrians Digital Basement and Jan Beta more interresting than 8bit guy. Other great ones are Retrocengo, although it is about Amiga and Commodore64. Then there are GadgetUK164 and Nostalgia Nerd. Nostalgia nerd makes great videoes if Octavius kitten joins him. She just Troll's him so much. …

Overall I agree that 8 bit guy's videos lost the initial freshness. Maybe this is due to the big load and also the recent fail with IBM prototype. Of course, becoming pure business has it's impact as well. But I believe he still has potential, his new game project looks very promising. I also like …

Re: Lesser known Win9x MIDI Softsynths

I found Altec Lansing WaveCUBE software on this disc here https://www.betaarchive.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=31120 Path to extract is A.PAQ\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\CABS\WAVECUBE It installs fine in W98, but doesn't work. It crashes as soon as it tries to make any sound. Initially it's a W95 program. From …

Re: PCMCIA Sound Cards

Could not test the CD version as it's setup program does not detect any sound device for some reason... It offers either No sound or Speaker. I mounted the .iso file that is on PCMCIA-CF card, and it works along with the REX-5572. I could not use KXL-D20 as it does not work with CS, SS drivers, …

Re: PCMCIA Sound Cards

Not sure, maybe Cannon Fodder? Cannon Fodder works fine, but looks like it just uses FM synth for digital sound. That's interesting, could you try other Infogrames games from the same era like Shadow of the Comet for example? I tried Shadow of the Comet and it does digital samples, it has the no- …

Re: PCMCIA Sound Cards

MAZter , lolo799 , thank you. I'll check both games and post later on. I've found a good text about Sound Blaster, and I think it explains how the sound in Alone in the dark works. I wonder what other games use this method. ... There are three methods a Sound Blaster card uses to play back digital …

Re: PCMCIA Sound Cards

I've been experimenting with ES1688 based Panasonic KXL-D20 card to see if it's capable of playing digital (PCM) samples in DOS. This is a feature of Ablib sound card that is used rarely and not well known. Although there are some games and software that use this possibility. Just to be clear it's …

Do you, guys, think I can make a 8-pin mini-DIN to DE-9 cable, like above, myself? Are there any electronic components inside, or it's just directly connected? There is the official pinout of this cable hosa dbk-130.jpg It's a piece of cake, unless it has anything else except wires inside. EDIT : …
