Actually it is a Dell, not HP. P190S. I guess it must be 5:4 but honestly it's hard to tell the difference playing DOS games on it.

I use a hp 19" and it looks excellent most of the time. I am often surprised at how well dos games look stretched out to 1280x1024 from 300x200 probably, jaggy pixels not to be seen. Even old EGA titles look fine. Maybe try a different lcd.

Midi gives you choice. Tracks can sound very different on different modules. Playing around with that can be fun.

I use second hand industrial 30mb/s for DOS and they have been rock solid. I have heard less good things about regular CFs.

If you can get 5 ISA sound cards working alongside each other more power to you. I spread my cards over at least three main PCs with ISA slots so I don't have to deal with resource conflict bullshit. I also have a testbench so I can easily swap out and experiment with even more cards if I want to.

Looks more sane than one on each speaker 😉 I have never heard of weight or heat being issues for midi stacks, I would not worry too much.

Just make sure it's a Northwood for s478. I like the 3.4ghz, fastest proc for it's time. Try and avoid ones with HT.
