Setmul can do more to a mmx than multiplier. E.g. test registers. Believe it can get down to a slow 286. I would use the p5a.

Isn't the YMF740 a PCI chip? Do motherboards with it necessarily support legacy audio in bios settings?

Why not just enjoy the wonders of the opl3 for games that only use it? It is just as important part of the retro computing experience as true midi.

So I tried everything, the only consistent result was when the 3dfx drivers are installed, the system hangs.
