I guess that is what the Speech in the name implies. Does that Tandy laptop have Tandy sound? If not, one nice use of a COVOX plug is in emulating Tandy sound using TEMU.

Is there a tool similar to snappy driver installer for 98se? Or am I going to have to go on a wild goose chase for my drivers? I have no oem cds for the hardware in this computer. You typically only need chipset drivers (there are a few main ones and are easy to find), and your gpu/sound drivers. …

My AWE64 Gold supports it and has great sound. I guess the importance comes down to number of games that use it which I am not sure about. However I do want to play DN2 one day so I could not live with only a non ADPCM card.

I finished NOLF1 today. This is the GOTY edition so I got to experience the extra episode at the end that I didn't play when it first came out. Even the ending sequence is excellent. There are very few games from 2007 onwards that don't work on modern PCs with at most small tweaking. It gets worse pre 2007 in the XP era where actual gpu/audio compatibility issues arise. That's why having a XP retro pc makes sense.

Get a decent 5:4 LCD, like a Dell or HP. I scale DOS games from as low as 320x240 and it looks crisp and clear. Your monitor does not even have the same aspect ratio.
