I think in 1999 where 128MB Rambus sticks common. You also should consider the OS - for a dual CPU system you need Windows NT4 or a Linux. Win2k would be the best, but it was released on 17. Feb. 2000. Windows 98 only supports single CPU Systems and 512MB RAM.

The Mach32 ISA is on par with the ET4000AX @10MHZ ISA Clock - tested on a SV2GX4 with a Am5x86 @160MHz - in DOS In Windows, the Mach32 is miles ahead the ET4000

The P24T can have their quirks from DMA problems up to destroying himself and the board. I am at @dionb and would recommend a DX4 ODPR 100. It would run in 99,9% of all 486 with LIF and ZIF socket - and it is a real, genuine intel 486.
