I think I found the culprit. I had to disable the serial port terminal shell like it is described here: https://www.cube-controls.com/2015/11/02/disa … ut-on-raspbian/ After that it works if I start my script after a restart.

Unfortunately it didn't really help. I just found another problem with ttymidi. If I read correctly ttymidi does not support SysEx messages. So I have to find another solution... EDIT: I was able to modify ttymidi so it handles SysEx messages correctly. Now Monkey Island sounds correct as it should! …

Yes, I'm on the Pi via SSH and use top to see the CPU load. I found that if I start mt32d and ttymidi manually right after the Pi booted the same problem happens. It seems I have to wait some minutes. After that mt32d and ttymidi seem to work correctly. Is it normal to wait that long? By the way: …
