If you look at some ATX PSU schematics you will see that the dual +12v rails come off the same +12v transformer lines. Hmm so does it still say 5v is missing ? Have you looked at the bottom of the motherboard to see if any traces are burnt ? Do you have a digi voltmeter or PSU tester and see what voltages are coming from the PSU's ?

Agree ! Some ATI PCI cards will not work proper on some older PCI boards, the Rage XL series is one.....ATI Rage XL 8MB on 486 PCI

Thought I would mention there are some psuedo generic older PSU that are OK. Some Enlight and ThermalTake models are ok. Not the greatest but a few models are very good.... Just need to research which ones.....

do not try to use a plcc tool. the pins are actually wrapped outward (as for surface mount) and you would ruin them. the socket should open... the top, right and bottom in your picture should pivot out or be pop-able up iirc. Been decades since messing with one them socket types so could be wrong.

And what version is your board?? And what cpu are you thinking of using ? Datasheets are your friend when it comes to replacements. If just wanting to mod the board for shits n grins but no plans on a cpu change then maybe you should rethink it.

Used to find those 8bit mono/cga+parallel cards all over ebay for cheap, not any more. Think BitWrangler's idea is probably easiest if you can find or have a mono/cga/ega card with rca outputs.

Long ago I hooked up a mono monitor on a 386 that also had a VGA card. The mono adapter worked fine with the amber monitor and also the VGA worked. Yes Only way to hook a VGA monitor to a mono adapter is with an active adapter.

I have a few older ATX boards that will not power up with a newer ATX 2.4 spec PSU but will with older ATX 2.0x spec (2.01, 2.03, 2.04). Cannot remember exactly which boards but they are P3/P4 era and left notes in their boxes....

Do you still have floppies or CDs for PAS16 installation? I would enjoy if we had it here in Vogons Drivers directory. Yes the drivers are in the library. Which PAS16 do you have (aka the model # 650-00XX ) am just curious... there never was a driver CD release for PAS16's it all was on floppies...
