Given choice of SSD or SD card I would go SSD. Both need proper use of a Trim util. Many prefer a real HD, no Trim as well as keeping things close to original in aspect what was in the old box. Can you post a picture of your board ? P-200 versus P-200MMX is only maybe a 5-10% improvement in DOS games iirc as per your chart above. Try running cachechk and post the results (is in Phils pack)....

just some thoughts... backing up a drive is a whole different thing than just copying files off it. first one can be complex, the second is fairly easy. What are you using to check those temperatures ? Have seen many OS based apps not report some Temps correctly (some allow an adjustment for chipset type instead of just "reading it") ... just a thought
