In the end, it ended up being a pretty sweet pentium 1 build. I am very happy with it. I cant wait to finally finish some games I never finished in the past and go back and beat a few that I did finish back in the day. Moving on to setting up my Pentium 3 build in the meantime.

DX versions cannot be downgraded by any install. Just run Dxdiag and You will see what version is installed. There is a program that can remove DX though, get from here https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/directx_eradicator.html Yeah that ended up not being the issue. I had at least DX 8 …

The 12 meg card found a permanent home in my Pentium 1 233 MMX build. It seems to work great . It even got better benchmark scores that the voodoo 3 cards i tried first.

I was trying for ages to fix up my Pentium 1. It was acting all erratic for ages , wouldnt run any games for long before rebooting or bluescreening. Im glad i found this post again to update. Im such a noob. I didnt know that an 8 meg card shows as 4 meg buffer memory and 4 meg texture memory. Derp. Both the 12 and the 8 meg cards work fine. Learning as I go. I never dealt with voodoo 2 cards back in the day.
