Re: Rarest CPUs?

I suspect the boards are almost as unicorny as the CPU With having too much stuff, it sounds like I wouldn't know if I had one, I've only found the easiest to find stuff lol .... I'm 99.9% certain I don't though. Edit: gotta leave that 0.1 hanging because a couple of years ago I would have been …

Re: Rarest CPUs?

One of the rarest x86 processors. It's almost impossible to find. Tested? Working? I suspect the boards are almost as unicorny as the CPU With having too much stuff, it sounds like I wouldn't know if I had one, I've only found the easiest to find stuff lol .... I'm 99.9% certain I don't though. …

Re: PC Chips 754LMR+

On the pic with the soldered rams its visible the bodged pad, right chip on the middle pins. I think i saw one pic of this board with the rams soldered and a fan on the chipset from factory. edit: http://www.drivers.ru/catalog/motherboards/motherboards_elpina/Elpina_M754LR_Ali_GFX_SB_7391.html not …

Re: PC Chips 754LMR+

Did this mod to my 754LR+ and I can confirm it works perfectly, local framebuffer 16mb on AGP 2x , ram I used is 166mhz. This makes for a nice win98 system, with gfx and audio integrated, fast Pentium 3 and added bonus of an isa slot, at least on paper, don't know how stable this motherboard is. …

Re: What modern activity did you get up to today?

Pic of the cpu cap I had issues with + a socket 1155 pin that broke and I repaired. Basically I put a copper wire and soldered it to the stump (the head of the pin broke and wasn't making contact; it was already broken but it broke even more, still making contact though). I then added some solder to …

Do you live in a humid or salty environment? Cause areas like that things can start corroding quite quickly. You can also get a reaction between the card edge and the slot contacts if the gold plating isn't all that good. I had that with 2 boards. The guy has his house 100m from the sea (lucky chap …

Trying to figure out the value of this burnt smd. My guess is an inductor. On the bottom of a i3 4170. No power on when installed. I'll desolder it and test it to see if it works again. If you need it, I have about 40 Xeon CPUs with similar-looking SMDs rotting in a box... Good to know, thanks! …
