I already tried using uniflash but I think the 486s need a external machine to do it. If you have a spare bios try using that. PCChips used write once chips. I have a TL-886+, used it so many times it basically paid off for itself over and over again. There is a newer version with a ton of adapters …

So I was using 128kx8 DIP modules for cache as well as the tag. The manual specifies a 64x8 DIP for tag, could this be the cause? I though I could always use a bigger tag than needed. However, once again, the 128kx8 tag works for tag in 512kB mode and that only needs a 32x8, so I don't know. The …

I have a quick one, if I remove a DDR2 chip from a VGA card, it will display anyway but with artifacts or it won't at all? As I'll probably remove one I'd like to have an idea of what could be.

Went through troubleshooting a vid card. Found the issue but after ordering and replacing dead parts I'll have to see if the core survived.

Only way to know is to try the programmer. Peel off the sticker on the BIOS chip, read it, see if it is the supported list. Save what's on it, then write the BIOS on the TRW site and see if it revives your motherboard. To cjeck the mosfets use a multimeter, read the Voltages and take note of what …

No cpu installed, with your fingers touch and check if anything is unbearable to touch as it is too hot. Do you have a POST card? Multimeter, check voltages on the MOSFETs. Could be that the card was dead and killed stuff or one MOSFET died for no reason (it happens). If you have a programmer try …

On my main pc each os has its own dedicated SSD. Data on HDDs. External HDDs for backups. On a laptop I only use the usual basic boring stuff. No games. What makes me a dull boy 😀

NVME partioning advice

I bought a laptop with a 1TB NVMe. Before I start copying stuff from my old one, would it be better to create a 2nd partition for data? I'm just unaware of any backdrops in doing so, as I did with SSDs. I have Windows 11 Home, would 256GB enough to be happy forever with updates? Thanks
