Okay, I tried the adapter on my mother's computer with a COM1 port. This computer has Windows 10. I have connected both the Genius mouse and the optical mouse. On restart they are not recognized by the operating system. I am increasingly convinced that the adapter is broken.

Unfortunately I can't do this test, because my XT computer has a 25-pin serial port and I don't have the adapter.

I downloaded the drivers for the genius newscroll mouse. The drivers work correctly on COM1, both on DOS and on Win311. I see the mouse pointer on DOSSHELL and on Win311. But it doesn't move! I tried to insert a PS2 optical mouse, but the light doesn't turn on. Does this mean it is not powered?

The mouse works regularly. I tried it on another PC. I'm not sure though that it supports serial operation, but probably yes. A few years ago, if I'm not mistaken, I used it with a serial adapter. Do you have more detailed information about it? thank you.

I used a needle to check every single hole on the female ps2 adapter. I used the speaker connector on the motherboard to get a GND pin. This is the situation. It seems to me the opposite of how it should be. Is it correct in your opinion? Thank you!

I have see that the PS2 female pinout, in default, has the GND on connector 3. But this adapter has the GND on connector 4! I believe that this is a problem...!

I noticed that the serial-ps2 adapter is not configured correctly. The GND should be on pin 3, and instead it is on pin 4. I think the problem stems from the faulty adapter, or configured upside down. I will buy another adapter or directly a serial mouse.

Ok, i have verified the pins on the motherboard and the pins on dongle. The GND on the com port on the motherboard, is on the pin 5. Also on the dongle the GND is on the pin 5. Then, I think it's a connector AT/EVEREX and my dongle should be compatible. Why do you think it doesn't work? Thanks!! …

Sorry, i got confused. The P3 have 512mb RAM installed. I'm interested in games from the 80s until 97/98. The ISA sound cards in my possession are: Opti 82C925 (AD1845JP) and Crystal CS4231A-KL (Reveal Sound FX RV82C929KT). Thanks!
