Nvm, did fdisk /mbr and sys a: c: and all working Strange DOS install didnt do it automatically

Any idea why is it not booting from the sd to ide adapter? I did a fresh install of ms dos 6.22z It just sits there.

one more question, I noticed when I plug in the SD to IDE adapter on the same cable as my original IDE HDD, neither get detected. Main drive is selected as Master, there are no switches on the SD IDE board. So I am using the 2nd channel where optical drive is but it means I am losing the CD Drive …

thanks guys, swapping cards it is then ... im so excited 🤣 ... its been nearly 30 years ! Im reliving the days of my childhood when I was a computer geek ... about to order a dreamblaster X2 for my SB16 ... cant wait!!!

ok thanks, I saw that actually on one youtube. but was worried if I install windows 98SE it will get rid of my autoexec and conig.sys setup ... swapping SD cards might be easiest though ? or not really?

yeah maybe I can use this as I dont have spare 3.5" slot : https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/402599142993 still gives easy access. You are saying I can install windows 98SE, yes I can but wont it then boot into Windows ? How do I get it to boot to DOS with all the settings I have setup for my sound etc?

No conflict and when i just ran duke3d setup and tested sound after adjusting irq and dma to windows i can hear the sound. Strange?

oh nice, how did you find that? I tried to google but couldnt see ... that means I can play most DOS games with Soundblaster sounds and and FM for music right? if yes then wooohoooo !!!!

its NEC Discovery 713L Not sure exactly what sound card is in it, will need to install Windows 98 and see what it detects. Cant find any PCMCIA sound cards on traditional channels.

hi guys, didnt want to create new thread so I thought I'll ask here. I have a P133 laptop that has USB port on it and also PCMCIA slot. are there any USB sound cards I can use that would have DOS drivers that are Sound blaster compatible ?

I found a cable thats already the old version !!!!! so lucky !!! was burried in old box and it all now works !!!! it also has a PS2 connector but its 1x5 so not sure which header to connect to on mobo and in which orientation

I ordered another PCI serial port card, comes with original drivers for DOS so hopefully it will work. the rewiring, I dont now how to connect which wire where ... 🙁

ok thanks guys, I checked the wiring and I can see all cables I have are the newer version. Is there a simple visual guide I can follow to cut and reconnect wires to make it the older version pls? thank you again for all the help, much appreciated ...

ok, I can do that I think. I assume though if none of the cables I have work, I will need to swap the right pinouts on one of the existing cables? Its just so strange, I never seen this before. and in saying that, I wish I could get the PCI card going 🙁

thanks but what that does that mean ? What do I have to do ? The case the mobo is in has a com 1 cable and I have few spare ones, how do I find a cable that has the right pint out connections?

board also seems to have PS2 and USB headers? am I seeing that right? maybe I can get a connector with a bracket for one of those ?

thanks, I found the manual too just now and when I do the nmdosin -a command, it doesnt add any ports 🙁 I will see if I can find the manual (or if someone can help that would be great) ... this is the board :
