Have you tried the usual (go to task manager, details, right click the installer process then "Analyze wait chain" and see if some other process is holding the installer up)? So I have my original CD's and I can install the game i can install the patch 1.01 and I even use the unprotected pop3d.exe, but nothing I do can get this game to run on Windows 10.
