Re: Star Trek Bridge Commander

Yeah, I know what you mean... what are the chances? :/ I started a thread in old hardware to see if there are other P3B-F users who might have an idea. I have a desolder station, so changing the caps wouldn't be too hard. Would like to know for sure that is the issue... Wondering if it might be a …

Re: Star Trek Bridge Commander

Swapped out the memory and got way further than I have before, play through the intro video, got to the main menu, was able to start a new game, and still got a good 60-90 seconds into game play before it ultimately froze. Sadly a second attempt without changing ending else resulted in a freeze in a …

Re: Star Trek Bridge Commander

I was wrong, old PSU has 30A on the 5.5v rail Even still I can't see that being the case, especially given that I only have the Mobo (with only 1 card), HD, and ROM plugged in. I swapped the DVD-ROM, and CPU with a PII 400, got further before locking up but still did. Going to swap the memory and …

Re: Star Trek Bridge Commander

I just swapped the PSU for an older 300w I had, this one has a -5v and it locked up still. New PSU is an Apevia Venus, the voltage grid shows it has 16A on both the 5v and 3.3v rails, 32A on the 12v, 0.3A on the -12v, and 2.5A on +5vsb... These are all higher than my old PSU... The only things …

Did a clean install this morning, formatted the C drive, reinstalled Win98SE, installed chipset drivers, Nvidia drivers, Audigy drivers, then Bridge Commander. Applied the patch then rebooted for good measure. I also enabled DMA mode on the hard drive. On first launch of Bridge Commander, the …

Re: Star Trek Bridge Commander

yeah, I am leaning towards doing a reinstall... PSU is a brand new modern PSU that was bought for this build. I had this board in storage for years, so when I went to setup this build I checked it over for bad caps, nothing was bulging, but then a bad cap doesn't have to, so wouldn't rule that out. …

Re: Star Trek Bridge Commander

I think changing the drivers around messed up Windows. I can play Motocross Madness II, but tried several other games and they just freeze with a black screen. Tomb Raider III for instance, I can go into the setup and tell it to use software renderer and it will play for a while before freezing, but …
