Cycle-accurate 'emulation' in FPGA hardware gets around all the above emulation-is-inaccurate concerns. I know some fairly hardcore private games rooms whose owners are enthusiastically shifting machines over to it, over the past year or two. Afaik they're (i.e the MiSTer project) not too far away …

MiSTer or similar, hardware FPGA-based 'emulation'. Cycle-accurate translation of old systems into new silicon.

Doesn't gold connectors on a card merely dictate galvanic corrosion (when used with normal cables), unless you specifically use cables which also have gold connectors? In that sense, gold connectors on a card could either be a blessing or a curse.

To be honest I don't get the idea of this list. If you're looking to buy something right now on ebay you can look up the prices yourself. In this case the price is always what the cheapest seller wants. Just do an ebay search, limit to BIN and sort by price. If the item isn't avaliable right now …

As a last resort, could just source a bunch of cheap, compatible 2.5" spinning drives, and churn through those over time. This is an era when such drives are quite cheap, due to the scrap supply from the past decade+'s notebook computers, but that cheap era will not remain so forever.
