Re: Gamma Correction In Old Win9x Games?

in Windows
Um... yes. By brightness and contrast controls are maxed out. They have been for years, but everything is very dark. I've done some research into other monitors as well just to see if it was my own monitor, but... in every display model I saw in stores (CRT, LCD, etc.) the monitors were very dark …

Gamma Correction In Old Win9x Games?

in Windows
Hi all. I searched the forums and tried the Application Toolkit, but couldn't find any useful information or fixes. I'll admit the search element was only half-hearted, but at least it was an attempt. Anyway, here's the issue: how do I alter the gamma correction in old Win9x games like Warcraft II …

Re: Adlib MIDI in DOS Games

Dude, if this works, you are the man. UPDATE: I can't win... the MID files sound much closer to the in-game original, but still not on the money. Plus, there are playback errors here and there. I used many different MID files both old and new and tried all different Sound Blaster versions offered by …

Re: TIE Fighter Graphical Woes

Not only did I figure out how to fix the problem a while ago (thanks anyway  ), but I have only one thing to say regarding the remake: terrible. Redbook audio is relies on the CD being in the drive, and worse, it isn't dynamic. Overall the remake isn't anywhere as immersive as the original... …

Wing Commander: Privateer "NOEMS" to "RAM"

When trying to run Privateer, I get this error message: Protected mode driver is not responding to EMS function calls. Make sure your EMS driver is not configured with the NOEMS option. If it is, replace the option "NOEMS" with "RAM". Any ideas? And please, if you give me command line options, tell …

Re: EMS Driver Not VCPI Compliant

I actually use a frontend called D-Fend. I prefer its profile-saving ability, and menus and checkboxes are much easier than a command line. What are the exact functions of "-t cdrom -ioctl" so I might find them in D-Fend? EDIT: I tried the command line "e:\>wc3 -t cdrom -ioctl", but there's no …

Re: EMS Driver Not VCPI Compliant

Cool, that worked. Unfortunately, I get an error message telling me that it can't open up a file from the CD (and yes, I mounted my CD drive). It begins to load just fine, and then boom, it crashes with that message. Could this possibly be related to an error message I received earlier outside of …

Re: Software Win98SE Desktop Gamma Correction?

in Windows
Doesn't work. Literally. As in, I can install it, but it gamma and brightness don't change no matter how much I screw around with the sliders. ARGH! All I want to do is play TIE Fighter! Is that so much to ask?! First my pilot keeps disappearing, then the graphics don't function... I solve the …

Software Win98SE Desktop Gamma Correction?

in Windows
Is there a way to modify the desktop gamma correction of Windows 98 Second Edition without use of video card drivers? Is there a function in Win98SE itself? Or is there software that can do this? Thanks, Robert Aronson (Shoal)

Re: Adlib MIDI in DOS Games

Actually, that worked. All MIDI files now play. However, MIDIs ripped from games still give me a warning, and don't sound anything like they do in-game (although they also sound far different than as if played via WinAmp). Thanks, Robert Aronson (Shoal)
