The computer only has ISA slots, so that limits expansion options a bit. But, you can add an ISA network card to get the system online.

It might run Apple Rhapsody if you can get floppies working. I've never tried it on a 486-class system. BeOS would probably work, too.

With a POD83 and 32MB of RAM, you have a lot of options. It will run Windows 3.1 and Windows 95 with no issues. Windows NT 3.51 and Windows NT 4 will also work well. If nothing else, it will rock DOS 6.22.

The board maxes out at 1MB of VRAM. Those sockets would take 4x 128KB chips. My board uses Sanyo LC324256BP-70 in the expansion sockets.

If you can burn CD's on another computer, you could burn the files and installers you need to a CD in the boot sector. You might need to create several CDs, though (I do this a lot). The POD83 would be much faster than a DX4-100 in floating point, and about the same in integer work. Yes, you would need an imposer to run anything faster than a DX2-66 (the POD has one built into the CPU package).

Those versions of the Catalyst driver might install on Windows 95, but they won't work properly because later Catalyst drivers call a number of Windows 98/Me-specific functions in the DLLs that Windows 95 doesn't include. You might have more luck if the system BIOS can set the SATA ports to "IDE Compatible" mode. That tells the SATA controller to use the traditional IDE IRQs and addresses. Windows 98 should then detect it as a standard IDE controller.
