That´s probably the case! A lot of more modern PCI cards don´t work or don´t work properly on this board. This BIOS supports SMP and everything, maybe they snatched some tables and data to make it fit. As long as this issue isn´t sorted you don´t have to bother about the continuity of the data …

The two transistors of the VRM circuit are working parallel for the same CPU core-voltage. This voltage is also feeding the "COAST slot". If you set the VRM to 4V, the cache chips will operate with 4V also.

I think the chances might be good, there are some jumpers for 16/8 bit BIOS etc, some marks are under a sticker. It´s probably safer not to trust "auto detect".

Is the ISA slot you put the VGA card in 8-bit or 16-bit? If it´s 8-bit (only the longer part of the slot being present) chances are your VGA card won´t work. "G" northbridge has it´s own TAG RAM - functional and active, if there was no external TAG chip present. Adding one will, in the best case, have no effect at all.

What revision does the ALi northbridge have? Depending on this an external TAG-cache chip is needed or not. Revision "E" (and lower) need an external TAG chip, "G" anh "H" have a functional integrated TAG and don´t need an ext. one, not sure about "F" at the moment...

Traces with an "open end" are often grounded and have some shielding function to prevent signals from interfering with each other. Otherwise I could think of a sloppy rearrangement between different revisions of this SBS, but that wouldn´t be Taiwan-like...
