I tried to measure a difference with my at2atx adapter but they looked the same it was hard to tell though as the number flys all over the place. But it really seemed like no detectable difference. The chip may not actually shit down the extra, it may just map it out.

think a resource problem might cause that error? board looks pretty clean doesn't seem like any battery damage. I usually just stick the card in a bunch of times and wipe it off to clean it. Be careful about poking stuff in the slot. You can do it. just don't strain, over extend, or bend anything. …

Be warned, I have had nothing but trouble with ide to sata adapters on retro boards. And many others have as well. Though there are a few success stories. Imo, best to get a actual sata controller card. Most of my stuff is socket 7 and older though. Yours is newer may have a better chance?
