If it was a copper core and not aluminum would be more inclined to think it may be ok. Oh and the 1Mb cache versions make lots more heat than Intel Pentiums. 44watt TDP versus 16watt for Pentium 200 MMX. just a comparison.... I was referring to socket 5/7 as a whole i think it was the 166 cyrix …

So chkcpu is reporting the cpu has WB. Can that be right? Didn’t realize dx2 came with that. There are some jumpers near the cpu, they may go to that register… 🤔

I have about 10 486 dx2 cpus and I binned them based on which ones would post at the highest frequency. Eventually I ended up with a 1993 cpu which was able to post at about 45 fsb. It of course wasn’t stable. So I kept dropping it till I got to 40 mhz at which point the system would boot and run …

Probably close enough. I know those cpus made a little more heat than socket 7 cpus did. But not a whole lot more. I gotta think that as long as the mechanics of it all are stable that it should work thermally. The cache probably doesn’t make a whole lot of heat if much of any at all.

The maximum supported ram of this motherboard is 8 sticks of 9 chip 4mb for a max total of 32mb (w/parity bit) unsure if it uses the parity bit, but the sticks do work in the board when 9 …

The upgrades and testing has already begun! :p 16mb x4 4mb x 4 Galapu’s AnyClk device for setting crystal speed (set to stock RN) It would be cool to get the weitek for this. Though idk if it would be utilized with a dx processor. Might show two numerical units. That would be cool?

Looks a lot like my POD build. It maxes out at 32mb but only if you use two double sided 16mb sticks it won’t support a single 32mb, at least not as a full 32mb The bus does support single sticks, so matched isn’t required
