Re: Far Cry

Can you tell me how can i Use Intel- ATI ? I simply install Windows XP and then install the drivers for the GPU. No problems whatsoever. I'm using a Core 2 Quad Q9650 with an AMD HD 7950. I also use an ATI x850xt without issue in combination with the same CPU. You may be running into some …

Re: Far Cry

Why you Edit the HDR in the Config CFG ? FC is only make for 1280x1024 So I wouldn't have to enter it into the console during gameplay. Not sure what resolution has to do with it, but Far Cry supports resolutions beyond 1280x1024. I'm playing at 1600x1200. I have not Played FC with AMD-ATI, because …

Re: Far Cry

Does anyone know what the 6th CD is that's included with the retail release? The readme nor the instruction booklet explain what it's used for. The CD case says it's a 5 disc package but there is a 6th disc labeled, "AMD64 - Not For Resale", without any "Install" or numbering text like the other CDs …

Re: Far Cry

Looks like the game had defaulted to shader model 1.1. I think the issue was caused by the fact that I changed the 'r_hdrrendering' setting directly in the system.cfg before even launching the game for the first time. After reinstalling, loading into game first, and then entering the command via …

Re: Far Cry

Any idea why I'm unable to turn on HDR? I get a black screen upon loading into a level with HDR enabled and if I try to turn it on via console command, nothing happens. Using a GTX 580 (262.99 driver) on XP SP3 32-bit, retail game patched to 1.33. EDIT: This is bizarre. Same issue with an HD 7950 …

Re: Crysis Setup Oddities

Started running into a driver crash on the level 'Core'. It'll either crash immediately upon starting the level, or shortly after. Rather than test more drivers, I decided to try out my Radeon HD 7950 which is a nice performance boost. Also, the rockslide FPS drop I described in an earlier post …

Re: Crysis Setup Oddities

Performance is playable throughout the entire game with 'Very High' settings at 1600x1200 (anywhere between 25-60 fps). It's just when those rock slides occur in Awakening that the FPS dips into the single digits. It spikes right back up to normal once the rumbling stops. My guess is it's some sort …

Re: Crysis Setup Oddities

Does anyone else experience a massive framerate drop during the level 'Awakening' when the rock slides occur? Everytime those huge boulders tumble down the mountainside, my FPS goes down into the single digits. What could be causing this? Some sort of CPU limitation? I'm using a Q9650 Core 2 Quad …

Morrowind Bink Video Stutter

Playing Morrowind GOTY edition (which is fully up-to-date) on Windows XP with a Core 2 Quad Q9650 CPU and I'm experiencing stutter during Bink videos. The audio plays back fine, but the video appears to "lag" behind the audio at random times, only to quickly speed up to get back in sync. Any way to …

Crysis Setup Oddities

Been testing out Crysis on Vista 64-bit. Ran into some strange behavior that doesn't appear to have been discussed online. Thought I'd document it here for reference: - Launching the game using the 'Games Explorer' Crysis icon will launch the 64-bit exe. - Launching the game by clicking 'Play' on …

Re: Splinter Cell Chaos Theory - Windows XP & Audigy 5/Rx

I don't know if what I'm hearing are EAX issues. Sounds more like a 3D audio problem. I'm using headphones and sometimes when sounds are panning from left to right or vice versa there's a jarring transition rather than a smooth one. To be honest, I'm not certain that what I'm hearing is actually a …

Splinter Cell Chaos Theory - Windows XP & Audigy 5/Rx

I've been testing Splinter Cell Chaos Theory with an Audigy 5/Rx card and have run into a issue. The 3D audio doesn't sound quite right. There are times when I'll rotate the camera and sound effects will seem to disappear or they will sound as if they are moving off-screen. Another instance is when …
