Are you meaning the T2P4s prior to revision 3? They can use the later modded BIOSes that are already around for the rev3 up. Then you'll get 6 x 83 on a K6-3 if your PCI cards cope. I mean the whole subset of the motherboards, even the FX ones. I am going to use my XE now as it was limited earlier …

Necroware is very close to finishing his VRM module that can be installed on them after adding the standard 2.54 set of pins. Thus these motherboards will start to support K6-2 with 6.0 multiplier (something like 400 MHz becomes totally possible), thus their price will increase very soon :) And …

Hey, I am not the author of the topic 😀 My PSUs are DUSTY not RUSTY 😀 They are in pretty good shape, I just want to be sure I did everything I could for them.

That's so messy, there are two of multiplier sets (one for AMD, one for Intel), one unknown jumper and just a set of somewhat random settings like 1-2, 3-4 or 2-3 in the main jumper …

I've bought a desoldering tool (not the manual one but one with heater and a small pump) - and it worked. Despite I treated it so badly, I managed to remove most of the solder and straighten the pins. Will test it, for sure, but to my surprise the system booted with it.

Ehm.... To get an eeprom tool? 😀 It's useful even for arduino flashing not to mention any bios related stuff. And a bunch of W27C512 chips, they are pretty often used on cards of this era and can be erased without UV-lamp.

@Chkcpu, any news? I've just got this board with 5x86 P75 and now see that it will require your patch :) There was another board from that seller of v1.7 with not so fancy black ISA slots that detected that CPU as DX4-486-100S (or something like that) but I preferred this one that doesn't even boot …

Lol. It took me almost 25 years to realize that Pentium II in SECC cartridge is technically a Coast module with CPU on it. To my excuse - I've known about Coast existence only few months ago 😀 So they did not put CPU with cache on a stick, they added CPU to the stick with cache 😀

Every other Asus board that I have owned or set up for someone has worked fine. Some of them are still currently in service after 15 years of daily use. This is a retro-ish purchase. Took delivery of a TL866II programmer and a bunch of NOS EPROM chips. Going to be replacing the BIOS chips in some 286 machines. I did several replacements and EEPROMs were always working where UV EPROM required. They also require that lamp and quite a long procedure …

If you don't have desoldering station (like me) try using injector needle. Melt an alloy and put needle into the hole, rotating it. I have manual sucker pump but it simply doesn't work. I managed to desolder one side of the IC, then broke another row of pins and desolder them too. That was painful …
