It's an interesting thing! But I think it would be much more usable with a 486/Pentium class machine.

It's a pity that modern windows actively rejects eax support. My Audigy Rx has real EAX support, but I can't enable it in these games because of windows. I tried alchemy, replacing directx dll, but nothing worked

Yesterday I tried stunts 4ds, pinball fantasies, lotus3, ... Stunts has so nice FX and music. Lotus Fx is horrible, music is nicer but it is better on FM. In a ESS Solo1, with success. I have used midi cable and connected to mt32-pi. Mobygames has a good list of games.

Virtual memory should be related to free disk space. Do you have assigned a very big disk? Sometimes an overflow causes it Or the maximum open files or buffers in config.sys

Most of these came with Packard bell computer, like mine from 1996. They all had a CD called Master CD which was a system restore with drivers and programs. Most of them are mirrored on archive.org.

Which ones work best? I had a zip with at least 8 versions of the drivers. Latest ones from winme lack dos support inside windows. For DOS gaming, I had the best results with version 4.12.01.1165. You can get it from Phil's website . I ended installing a Microsoft certified newer version because …

Oh now I see uninstalling the drivers didn't actually uninstalled them, so always ended with same winMe drivers
