Problem solved, GeForce 45.23 drivers did not agree with the computer for some reason. Switched to 43.45.

I have installed a GeForce 4 Ti 4200 into my Windows 98 SE machine and I have installed the drivers likely correctly since I can get 16-bit color but Direct3D fails to initialize the card. I am using the 45.23 GeForce drivers. Any info will help, thanks!

Try running my antivirus, it's portable and no need to boot from clean floppy as it can disable the virus and clean the MBR if it's indeed infected, chances are it will detect most common boot viruses of DOS days No viruses found when I ran the check, I suspect the issue is a driver or windows …

To clean the MBR just boot from a clean floppy and type FDISK /MBR, assuming you have just one HD. But reading that the problem occurred after installing the chipset drivers I suppose that a virus it's not the cause of the issue. You may try restoring an old registry configuration booting in DOS …

As an experiment, I would try removing the sound card and use the onboard audio and game port. If everything works that way, you have a baseline to work from. Sound card problem solved. I still have the storage controller issue. Upon further investigation, it seems to have resources conflicts …

So I installed the drivers successfully but the volume is locked on mute, I can't even open advanced properties, and the sound card in the multimedia tab shows up as C000. How can I fix this? Edit: MIDI Driver, Mixer Driver, Soundfont setting, and Mixer settings failed in Creative Diagnostics. …

I am trying to find a set of drivers that work for my Soundblaster Live! CT4830 but I either install ones that make the sound work but make the game port disappear, crash windows, or make the game port appear but causes the sound to not work. Any info will help. Thanks!
