It's hard to find new 5v tht(trough hole) fuses, most that you will find are smd (surface mounted and not with legs). That's why you should get it from another board, to keep it in specs. Using one that is rated for a higher voltage will work but the over-voltage protection is gone also.

Then search on the scrap/dead ones for a fuse and replace it ( the black component ). You should be able to find it in the same area of the motherboard, just post some pictures of what you found so you will not use a ferrite bead instead (they look very similar, the other 'black' component with pins …

With power on, check with a multimeter the presence of 5v dc at all the points marked, careful not to short anything.

That 'bracket' fan is not a good option from my experience, it's noisy and ineffective (still have one) and in your case the upper slot it's occupied by the video card so at best it can be used as an exhaust for the gpu, not the cpu. Can you confirm: motherboard was turned on, multimeter was set on continuous voltage (e.g. 20v dc) and you used ground for the second lead of the multimeter ?

You can check with a multi meter the presence of +5v on the DIN5 connector on the selected pin. The location of the KB lock connector it's in the manual, and is shown in the second picture.

For dos only (not including win98), s3+voodoo 1/voodoo 2. I don't recommend matrox for ms-dos.

That's strange, especially if you tried a ps/2 keyboard. A corrupted windows 98SE recovery bootdisk maybe, just to add to the 'weirdness', thou should not be related and have an effect, but it's clearly the thing that was changed, have you tried running your 'new' cpu at a lower fsb (100/66) ?

You need the set blaster environment in any AUTOEXEC.BAT file you use for DOS. Just edit the autoexec.bat file and save it.
