Found the files: viafmtsr.com VIAAUDIO.COM OR VIAUDIO.COM If memeory serves the viafmtsr.com was a real memory hog. I tried hexing our error message and so on to shrink which didn't work. 😀

My board is a clone of the Epox 8KTA3+. I needed DOS drivers to get it to work and they were real memory hogs. What DOS games do you use it on?

Bingo! Last board I could find that had an ISA slot. Now if I can only figure out the best DOS drivers for the sound card (both the onboard and the ISA)...

I got my on 2000 XP AMD computer back. ISA soundblaster and everything on Win98/DOS. 😀

I got all the BattleTech games to run at one point, Crescent Hawk Inception, Crescent Haw revenge etc but then it stopped. Win98 claims it's Esoniq but I don't trust it. This is for DOS and Windows games so not sure how/why Linux would help.

Hi Folks, I have an old no-name laptop with a Penitum 200 MMX and 256 MB RAM. It's a nice littel old games box but i haven't been able to find a decent DOS driver for the soundcard. What's the best way to figure that out? Thanks!

I would have to dig around, but if you search the web for voodoo2 and environment variables you'll find all kinds of ways of "dumbing down" a V2 to act like a V1. EuroFighter 2000 has lost of tips.

Voodoo1 might run some really old Glide games better than a Voodoo2 My experience has shown that with the right environment variables a V2 can fake a V1 quite nicely.

Setting the sound accelleration to 0 (none) almost always helps. The compatibility settins help as well...

Anyone with a wife that calls a computer the "silver box thingee" and likes things that "just do stuff" can't survive with a boot loader and besides, enabling and disabling the HDD keeps your stuff safe. 😀

If memory serves there was a glide "patch" floating arpund that was basically opeining an .ini file (like 3dsetup.ini) in your Need for Speed directory and "forcing" glide...

uhhh, did Heavy Gear 2 support glide? I see no indication that it does. Anyone? Before I delete it off the list? Nope. D3D only. Funnily enough, Hevay Gear 1 seems to work better on WinXP than Heavy Gear 2.
