Re: voodoo 2

in Windows
Huh? I used to beta test for 3Dfx so I got them... well cheap. Nothing newer than a VodooTV and a 3500 though. Not sure what "100% 3Dfx Emulation" is supposed to mean... anyway... Running a Voodoo 1 on a 100 MHZ Front Side Bus system CAN be dangerous. Add plenty of cooling and don't overclock much. …

Re: Z

in DOS
I could only find Z + Expansion pack in Germany (and therefore in German). This isn't a problem for me but I did notice if you copy the English sounds over the german ones the units did speak English. Aperently though, there is no way to even get THAT version working in Windows above WinME. With my …

I play it in Win98SE all the time. Of course I use a boot disk...

Re: Ideal PC for maximum old game compatibility?

A friend is offering me this: Pentium PS processor running at 100 MHz with 16 MB of RAM, cache = 256 KB & a 950 MB hard disk drive with a quad-speed CD-ROM drive capable of playing music CDs (but without a burner) and a 16-bit stereo sound blaster card and a Diamond Stealth PCI SVGA graphics card …

Re: Ideal PC for maximum old game compatibility?

Thanks for the info guys! Actually my first PC ever was a P75 with 8MB of RAM running Win95. At work we still had DOS and Win 3.11 for workgroups so I had to ride both highways for a long time. A friend just offered me a P100 so I think I might go for it! THANKS! -Carrera

Ideal PC for maximum old game compatibility?

I just moved to a new place with more space and was wondering what PC/Laptop would allow me max compatibility to run old games. By old I mean something coded for a 386 up to earlier Win95 titles. I figure specs would be: Penitum 233 MMX (or similar) 64 MB RAM 2 to 8 GB Hard drive iwth at least one …

Re: Mechwarrior 2 DOS; Windows 98se; 3DFx

in DOS
I had a Vodooo 3500 (the samne as a 3000) and after the 1.05 drivers all backwards compatibility was ruined. You have to use much older drivers for the card for that. That's why I went back toi a Voodoo2 SLI configuration. The Titanium edition does have both Glide and D3D support. You can get MW3 …

Re: Mechwarrior 2 DOS; Windows 98se; 3DFx

in DOS
Just my 2 cents... I have found most "older" DOS Glide games do not run well on anything above a Voodoo 2. Since most of them never were programmed above 640X480 it ususally isn't a problem.

Good Morning...

I shall do that! Yes if I determine I really want help on Shattered Steel I will make a new thread with ALL the stats including my weight, eye-color and religious affiliation of my cat. Basically most folks I know have FAT32 or NTFS systems and didn't even know FAT16 existed. :-) That's all. I'll …

I know and read them, however this wasn't a troubleshooting post in the traditional sense. My system runs just fine. I was posting in the name of about 5 other people. Since they claim to be "experts" but don't even know how write an autoexec.bat I thought I'd ask if this could be the issue. Even …

Could FAT be the problem?

in DOS
I recently had a discussion with someone about old DOS games under Windows. I usually run everything from a bootdisk on a Win98SE system. Still many said this didn't help them. Could it be a FAT32 NTFS problem? I have one 2 GB FAT16 partition for this stuff.
